Schools all over the world are now using the ‘Evidence for Learning’ App to make collecting evidence a pleasure rather than a chore!

St Christopher’s International Primary School (SCIPS), Penang, is just one of many schools all around the world that have recently chosen to use the ‘Evidence for Learning’ App to improve the way they capture, document, and share observation evidence.

We are delighted to have invested in the ‘Evidence for Learning’ app. It is the perfect tool for evidencing anything that goes on in the classroom and it has already saved us many, many hours of work. It is highly innovative and engaging and our teachers are hooked on it.

Learner Journeys were not a clear reflection of children’s work

The staff at SCIPS found that using traditional methods to collect evidence of children observations was proving to be a big challenge. According to Julia Martinez, Head of Infants, ‘Teachers had to do a lot of work using paper, downloading photos, cutting, pasting, and post it notes to create learner journeys. Due to lack of time they would really struggle to fit everything into the school day’. ‘They just became a chore to be completed’. As a result, the children’s learning journeys were not as effective nor were they a clear reflection of the children’s work.

Making use of iPads

Through a FOBISSEA (Federation of British International Primary Schools in South East Asia) Leadership conference Julia became aware that other schools were starting to use iPads to overcome the everyday challenges staff faced when collecting and documenting evidence. After hours of research and travel to different international schools and conferences, I was very happy to have come across the Evidence for Learning app.

What makes the ‘Evidence for Learning’ app so great to use?

Evidence for Learning’ allows staff at SCIPS to quickly record daily observations, tag them to individual or groups of children, and then map these to the EYFS framework. According to Julia, It provides a much needed, comprehensive and beneficial form of assessment across the whole EY curriculum. It is also..

Teacher Friendly
Accessible to all teachers no matter what their background is in technology as it simple and straight forward to use, enabling all the staff to evidence everything that goes on in the classroom.

Great Time Saver
No more photos, downloading, copying, cutting and pasting. Our time is now focused in the quality of teaching and learning and effective planning.

Internationally Minded
A highly versatile app that supports a range of assessment frameworks (including UK, Australia, US, New Zealand) which is extremely useful in an international setting.

Safe
Pass code protection for every teacher.

Personalised
Tailored to fit your specific needs. It supports our personalised framework with our ‘I can’ statements. Our school Logo is added into all our documents, and the individualised PDF reports produced for the parents are highly professional.

Return on Investment
Julia has already seen an instant return in her investment. Our Teachers are all very happy and their feedback is that Evidence for Learning has saved them time. On an average we save at least 2 to 3 daily hours where upon our TA’s and teachers are free to work in different areas to improve and amend what we already have in place. This is a solid investment for any school.
